Add Mobile Redirect Code to your Website

(This article only applies to our legacy website templates. Responsive designs that adapt to any screen size are a standard feature of the new Home Inspector Pro Websites.

Home Inspector Pro allows for the use of a customized mobile website on your hosted website to allow for a frontend specifically for users browsing from a mobile device. This functionality is added by inserting code from another provider into your Home Inspector Pro web site.

The provider of the mobile-specific site will provide a piece of HTML code to embed in your site. You are able to add the code to your site using a Block. Follow the steps below to embed this code in your site.

Embedding HTML Code Using Blocks

  1. Go to your Home Inspector Pro hosted website, and click on the 'Admin Login' link at the bottom of the page.
  2. Log in using your user name and password.
  3. Under the 'Admin Menu' on the side of your page, click on Blocks.
  4. Click on 'Add Block' at the top of the page.
  5. Under the 'Block Description', enter a title, such as 'Mobile Redirect'. (this description will not be visible to visitors to your site)
  6. Under the 'Block Body' section, click on the Source button in the upper-left hand corner.
  7. Go to the HTML code provided by the mobile site provider.
  8. Highlight the code they have provided.
  9. Right-click on the code and select Copy.
  10. Under the 'Block Body' section, right-click and select Paste. The code will be pasted in the window.
  11. Leave the other settings on this page blank.
  12. Click on 'Save Block' at the bottom of the page. You will be returned to the list of Blocks.
  13. Under the Disabled section, find the Block with the title you specified for the 'Block Description'.
  14. To the right of the the 'Block Description', under the Region column, change this from <None> to <Header>. The Block will relocate automatically to the Header section.
  15. Scroll to the bottom of the screen.
  16. Click on 'Save Blocks'.

Your code will automatically be added to the content of your page. Try this out by going to your site on a mobile device, such as your iPhone or Android device. You should see the mobile site on these smaller screen devices. If you visit your site on a normal Windows or Mac OS X computer, you should see your normal site.
